The Environment-Economy Education Society of Ontario (E3) is dedicated to developing classroom resources for student use, conducting workshops for teacher professional development and making classroom presentations on environmental topics.

WHO WE ARE?

E3 was formed in early 2002 by a group of dedicated and interested Ontario educators to focus on national and provincial issues related to energy, water, land and air supported in the Ontario curriculum. Issues are approached using a bias-balanced format by incorporating input and support from involved government, industry, and community interests, the model developed by Inside Education, An Environmental Education Society, in Alberta. E3 is incorporated as a charity in Ontario with the Charitable Registration Number (CCRA) - 854498938R0001.

Currently, E3 is adding representatives to its board from industry, government (federal and provincial) and the community.

E3's professional education staff operates from Woodstock (between Kitchener and London). Educational resources are researched, written, piloted and delivered, along with services for teachers and students in their schools across the province. In-service and pre-service programs are provided at workshops, meetings, conferences and summer institutes.

HOW ARE WE FUNDED?

E3 has been funded through a combination of donations and contract fees. Support from government agencies, industry and business, private and public foundations, and product sales and fees is currently being pursued. Generous support for start-up has been made by the Foundation for Environmental Learning and Inside Education, who see the need and potential for this type of educational support in Ontario. A projected budget is available for projects being undertaken.
